Give them hair.
Lots of it.
It’s been officially 2 years since I last pasted the “Creamy Crack” aka “The Relaxer” on my new growth and my hair has NEVER been healthier!
Never big chopped.
Never put an “organic” relaxer on my hair to make the natural hair more “manageable.”
Just went cold turkey.
I was a bit apprehensive about going natural at the beginning of my journey because I thought that the process would take too long and I would have to fight with two different textures…
Side Note: My hair was already pretty long (Bra strap length) but to my surprise it only took 11 months for me to grow a whole new set of hair. #GrateFUL
I suggest EVERYONE go natural. It’s easier than you think and you’ll LOVE your curls!!
MY HAIR CARE REGIME
I wash my hair once a week usually with Tresseme or Pantene Pro V shampoo and conditioner. Not only do they smell great, but I’m also able to slip my fingers thru my forest of curls which is pure heaven (my fellow tender headed people will understand).
I apply a quarter size drop of CHI hair protectant serum all over my hair, blow dry with a paddle brush and flat iron with a CHI iron.
Side Note: When I wear my hair natural, I wash it DAILY with conditioner ONLY (shampoo has too much alcohol in it and dries it out).
TRIM
I do mine yearly. I take very good care of them, they rarely split, and it retains my length.
GOAL
Waist Length by July 2013.
MY BFF. THE REASON I’M NATURAL TODAY. AND SHE DOESN’T LIKE PICTURES. AT. ALL. HENCE THE T-SHIRT.

I just went cold turkey myself a month ago. I had the stylists cut all of the perm out of my hair. It has already doubled in length. I wash it everyday but was using shampoo (which I will now switch to just conditioner). I just need to know a good conditioning/non flaking gel or mousse to use to lock the curls in place but keep my hair feeling soft.

Shannon normally some kind of leave in conditioner does a great job of locking in my curls.
I use Doo Gro Leave In conditioner (it has a blue label) or I leave in whatever conditioner I use after my shampoo.

Courage…I need courage. Seems like I would have it ESPECIALLY since I look at how this color chemical has torn my hair all to pieces. HELP!
Your hair ROCKS!

Yes I agree that going natural is the best thing a woman could ever do for her hair! I went natural oct 2008 (kept a sew-in up in my head to avoid the “twa”) and before i cut it the other day my hair was touching the top of my bra in the back!!! GO NATURAL… U WILL LOVE IT!
Didn’t know to use just conditioner so I will have to do that whenever i wear my curls.
Tip what do you put on yourhair to flat iron it and keep it from frizzing… i have a horroble frozz problem sometimes

@D LuckiLadi I use CHI hair protectant before I blow dry and flat iron my hair, but in the summer time nothing I use helps.
It’s so humid that my hair frizzes up so I just wear it in my natural state:)

I will rock the natural curls until then though, either way NATURAL HAIR ROCKS!!!

@D Just won’t work during the summer time. No anti-frizz serum in the world will stop the humidity from swelling your mane up:(

Hi ladies, i’ve been considering going natural and i was wondering will i have to cut off all my hair?? My plan was to just keep it braided for about 6 months but the whole cutting and starting over thing is kinda making me nervous! lol

@Crystal> I gradually cut my perm off… every time i would wash it i would cut it until all the relaxed hair was completely gone! I kept a sew in up in my head and it made my hair grow REALLY fast ( same as braiding ). So I wish you well with your journey… you will love it when the journey is over
Tiphani ( with the beautiful flawless hair that i love ) has given me insight on some things so I am sure she will be of great help to you as well!

I’ve been natural for about a year now and I LOVE IT!! What was I thinking all these years? Using and abusing my hair. I’d like to apologize to my hair.
Hair I’m sorry
…lol
